July 2004

Daily Devotionals

Monday 5 July 2004

Acts 7:9,10

But God was with him and delivered him out of all his anguish.

(This is a reference to Joseph. Joseph had the ability to see things as God
sees them. Joseph said You meant evil against me but God meant it for
good.)

Tuesday 6 July 2004

Acts 7:34

I have seen the anguish of my people in Egypt and have heard their cries. I
have come down to deliver the. Come, I will send you to Egypt.

(Stephen is referring to what God said to Moses. Moses was a person who was ready to answer this summons from God and leave the comfort and ease he might otherwise have had.)

Wednesday 7 July 2004

Acts 7:51

You stiff necked people with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just
like your fathers; you always resist the Holy Spirit.

(The more privileges a person has the greater their condemnation if they take the wrong way.)

Thursday 8 July 2004

Acts 8:55

But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory
of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

(Stephen looked beyond the present and what man could do to him he saw
awaiting him the welcome of his Lord.)

Wednesday 21 July 2004

Acts 9:22

Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Christ.

(Paul needed two things. 1. Guidance for a way that was totally strange 2. Strength for an overwhelming task. He went to God for both.)

Thursday 22 July 2004

Acts 9:23

After many days had gone by, the Jews conspired to kill him.

(Counterfeit Christianity is always safe; real Christianity is always in peril. To suffer persecution is to be paid the greatest of compliments because it is certain proof that others think you really matter.)

Friday 23 July 2004

Acts 9:34

Peter said to him "Jesus Christ heals you."

(It was not his own power on which Peter called it was the power of Jesus Christ. We think too much of what we can do and too little of what Christ can do through us.)

Monday 26 July 2004

Acts 10:2

He and all his family were devout and God fearing.

(God rewards those who sincerely seek for Him.)
