March 1, 2002 - May 8, 2002 Friday 1 March Luke 5:20 "Friend, your sins are forgiven."
Saturday 2 March Luke 5:22-24 "Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven, or to say, Get up and walk? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. . . ." "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home."
Sunday 3 March Luke 5:27 "Follow me,"
Monday 4 March Luke 5:31 "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
Tuesday 5 March Luke 5:32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
Wednesday 6 March Luke 5:34-35 "Can you make the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; in those days they will fast."
Thursday 7 March Luke 5:36-38 "No one tears a patch from a new garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.
Friday 8 March Luke 5:39 And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, The old is better."
Saturday March 9 Luke 6:3-5 "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions." "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
Sunday March 10 Luke 6:8-10 "Get up and stand in front of everyone." "I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?" "Stretch out your hand."
Monday March 11 Luke 6:20 "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
Tuesday March 12 Luke 6:21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
Wednesday March 13 Luke 6:22-23 Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.
Thursday March 14 Luke 6:24-26 "But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.
Friday March 15 Luke 6:27-30 "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.
Saturday March 16 Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Sunday March 17 Luke 6:32-34 "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full.
Monday March 18 Luke 6:35-36 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Tuesday 19 March Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Wednesday 20 March Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
Thursday 21 March Luke 6:39-40 "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.
Friday 22 March Luke 6:41-42 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
Saturday 23 March Luke 6:43-45 "No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
Sunday 24 March Luke 6:46 "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?
Monday 25 March Luke 6:47-48 I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.
Tuesday 26 March Luke 6:49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."
Wednesday 27 March Luke 7:9 "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel."
Thursday 28 March Luke 7:13 "Don't cry."
Friday 29 March Luke 7:22-23 "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me."
Saturday 30 March Luke 7:24-28 "What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written: "'I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.' I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."
Sunday 31 March Luke 7:31-35 "To what, then, can I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to each other: "'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not cry.' For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." ' But wisdom is proved right by all her children."
Monday 1 April Luke 7:40-43 "Simon, I have something to tell you "Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more? You have judged correctly,"
Tuesday 2 April Luke 7:44-47 "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven - for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."
Wednesday 3 April Luke 7:48 & 50 "Your sins are forgiven." "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
Thursday 4 April Luke 8:5-8 "A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up. Some fell on rock, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown." "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
Friday 5 April Luke 8:10-15 "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, "'though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.' "This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
Saturday 6 April Luke 8:16-17 "No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.
Sunday 7 April Luke 8:18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him."
Monday 8 April Luke 8:21 "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice."
Tuesday 9 April Luke 8:25 "Where is your faith?"
Wednesday 10 April Luke 8:39 "Return home and tell how much God has done for you"
Thursday 11 April Luke 8:45-46 "Who touched me?" "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me."
Friday 12 April Luke 8:48 "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."
Saturday 13 April Luke 8:50, 52 & 54 "Don't be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed." "Stop wailing," "She is not dead but asleep." "My child, get up!"
Sunday 14 April Luke 9:3-5 "Take nothing for the journey - no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. If people do not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave their town, as a testimony against them."
Monday 15 April Luke 9:13-14 "You give them something to eat." "Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each."
Tuesday 16 April Luke 9:18 & 20 "Who do the crowds say I am?" "But what about you?" "Who do you say I am?"
Wednesday 17 April Luke 9:22 "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life."
Thursday 18 April Luke 9:23-24 "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.
Friday 19 April Luke 9:25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?
Saturday 20 April Luke 9:26 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
Sunday 21 April Luke 9:27 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God."
Monday 22 April Luke 9:41 "O unbelieving and perverse generation," "how long shall I stay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here."
Tuesday 23 April Luke 9:44 "Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men."
Wednesday 24 April Luke 9:48 "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all - he is the greatest."
Thursday 25 April Luke 9:50 "Do not stop him," "for whoever is not against you is for you."
Friday 26 April Luke 9:58 "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
Saturday 27 April Luke 9:59 "Follow me."
Sunday 28 April Luke 9:60 "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God."
Monday 29 April Luke 9:62 "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."
Tuesday 30 April Luke 10:2 "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Wednesday 1 May Luke 10:3-11 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. "When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. "When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you.' But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.'
Thursday 2 May Luke 10:12-15 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. "Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths.
Friday 3 May Luke 10:16 "He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."
Saturday 4 May Luke 10:18-19 "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
Sunday 5 May Luke 10:20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
Monday 6 May Luke 10:21 "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.
Tuesday 7 May Luke 10:22 "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."
Wednesday 8 May Luke 10:23-24 "Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it."
