Daily Devotionals
Saturday 19 October
John 1:38-39
“What do you want? Come… and you will see.”
Sunday 20 October
John 1:42-43
“You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas. Follow me.”
Monday 21 October
John 1:47-48, 50
“Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing
false. I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called
you. You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall
see greater things than that.”
Tuesday 22 October
John 1:51
“I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
Wednesday 23 October
John 2:4
“Dear woman, why do you involve me? My time has not yet come.”
Thursday 24 October
John 2:7-8
“Fill the jars with water; Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
Friday 25 October
John 2:16
“Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father’s house into a market!”
Saturday 26 October
John 2:19
“Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”
Sunday 27 October
John 3:3
“I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
Monday 28 October
John 3:5-6
“I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom
of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh,
but the Spirit gives birth to spirit”.
Tuesday 29 October
John 3:7-8
“You should not be surprised at my saying, “You
must be born again.” The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound,
but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with
everyone born of the Spirit.”
Wednesday 30 October
John 3:10-12
“You are Israel’s teacher,” “and do you not understand
these things? I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify
to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I
have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will
you believe if I speak of heavenly things?
Thursday 31 October
John 3:13
No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven — the Son of Man.
Friday 1 November
John 3:14-15
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so
the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have
eternal life.
Saturday 2 November
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and
only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life”.
Sunday 3 November
John 3:17-18
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn
the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is
not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because
he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Monday 4 November
John 3:19-21
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world,
but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone
who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear
that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into
the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been
done through God.
Tuesday 5 November
John 4:7, 10
“Will you give me a drink? If you knew the gift of God
and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he
would have given you living water.”
Wednesday 6 November
John 4:13-14
“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,
but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water
I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Thursday 7 November
John 4:16-18
“Go, call your husband and come back. You are right
when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands,
and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is
quite true.”
Friday 8 November
John 4:21-23
“Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship
the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship
what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the
Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will
worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers
the Father seeks.
Saturday 9 November
John 4:24
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Sunday 10 November
John 4:26
“I who speak to you am he.”
Monday 11 November
John 4:32, 34
“I have food to eat that you know nothing about. My food, is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.
Tuesday 12 November
John 4:35-38
Do you not say, “Four months more and then the harvest”?
I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal
life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying
‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not
worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits
of their labour.
Wednesday 13 November
John 4:48
“Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, you will never believe.”
Thursday 14 November
John 4:50, 53
“You may go. Your son will live. Your son will live.”
Friday 15 November
John 5:6, 8, 11, 14
“Do you want to get well?
Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.
Pick up your mat and walk.
See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you”.
Saturday 16 November
John 5:17
“My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.”
Sunday 17 November
John 5:19-21
“I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself;
he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father
does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he
does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son
gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.
Monday 18 November
John 5:22-23
Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted
all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the
Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent
him.
Tuesday 19 November
John 5:24
“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes
him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed
over from death to life”.
Wednesday 20 November
John 5:25-29
I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come
when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will
live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to
have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he
is the Son of Man. “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming
when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out — those
who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise
to be condemned.”
Thursday 21 November
John 5:30-34
By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear,
and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent
me. If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid. There is another
who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is valid.
You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. Not that I accept
human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved.
Friday 22 November
John 5:35-38
John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you
chose for a time to enjoy his light. I have testimony weightier than that
of John. For the very work that the Father has given me to finish, and which
I am doing, testifies that the Father has sent me. And the Father who sent
me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor
seen his form, nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the
one he sent.
Saturday 23 November
John 5:39-40
You diligently study the Scriptures because you think
that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify
about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
Sunday 24 November
John 5:41-47
I do not accept praise from men, but I know you. I know
that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. I have come in my Father’s
name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name,
you will accept him. How can you believe if you accept praise from one another,
yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God? But
do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses,
on whom your hopes are set.
If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he
wrote about me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going
to believe what I say?
