Daily Devotionals
Thursday 9 May
Luke 10:26 - 28
“What is written in the Law?” “How do you read it?” “You have answered correctly,” “Do this and you will live.”
Friday 10 May
Luke 10:30- 37
“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when
he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat
him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going
down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.
So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the
other side. But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man was;
and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged
his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey,
took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two
silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said,
‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’
“Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into
the hands of robbers?” “Go and do likewise.”
Saturday 11 May
Luke 10:41 - 42
“Martha, Martha,” “you are worried and upset about many
things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better,
and it will not be taken away from her.”
Sunday 12 May
Luke 11:2-4
“When you pray, say: “‘Father, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive
us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us
not into temptation.’”
Monday 13 May
Luke 11:5 - 10
“Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him
at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because
a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before
him.’ “Then the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door
is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and
give you anything.’ I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the
bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man’s boldness he will
get up and give him as much as he needs. “So I say to you: Ask and
it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will
be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and
to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Tuesday 14 May
Luke 11:11- 13
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish,
will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give
him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give
good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give
the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
